Meet Management


Jonathan Marcus has extensive experience hosting track & field and cross country meets as well as road races, big and small. All facets of meet management including course logistics, contract negotiations, municipality compliance, talent recruitment, budgeting, marketing, health & safety, and rules compliance are within his wheelhouse.

He is a founding meet director of notable American high performance middle distance meets such as: Portland Track Festival, Adrian Martinez Classic, the USATF Middle Distance Classic (formerly OXY High Performance), and Sunset Tour. He also served as the elite fields coordinator for the Brooks PR Meet, an elite High School track & field meet, and the FloTrack Throwdown High Performance Meet.

Additionally, he created the highly successful Tuesday Night at the Races indoor track meet series while an assistant coach at University of Portland. He launched the Rose City Preview track meet and Viking XC Classic meet during his time at Portland State University. And Jonathan helped create and start the the USATF Oregon 1 Mile Road Championships and Bowerman 5K road race when he served as the Long Distance Chairman of USATF Oregon Association.

In 2018, Jonathan was the Expo Director for the Portlandathon (the Portland Marathon interim event).
